What Is Microsoft Paint 3D?
Microsoft Paint 3D is a free creative app released in April 2017 with the Windows 10 Creators Update. It took the classic MS Paint you grew up with and added a third dimension: drop spheres, cubes, and cylinders into a scene, spin them around, and paint right onto their surfaces.
It is built for people who are not 3D artists. There are no node editors and no steep learning curve, which is why this 3D paint app became a favorite with students, teachers, and first-time digital artists.

Is Paint 3D Still Available in 2026?
Yes. Microsoft retired Paint 3D and removed it from the Microsoft Store on November 4, 2024, and the app no longer receives updates. It still works on PCs where it is installed, and it runs normally on Windows 11. If Paint 3D was ever installed on your Microsoft account, you can also find it under Microsoft Store > Library.
Is there a Paint 3D online version?
No. Microsoft never released Paint 3D online or as a web app; it is a Windows desktop program only. Sites promising “3D paint online” are unrelated tools. If you need something in the browser, Tinkercad is the closest free option for simple 3D models.
